This is a reminder notice about Dannon's workshop at Malaspina college in
Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island - the info is below. It will be fantastic to
have her here, and we hope that everyone who possibly can will take
advantage of the opportunity. Dannon's work is wonderful, her techniques
fascinating, and she is a superb teacher (don't need to tell clayarters
that!) AND, Vancouver Island is one of the loveliest places in the world to
visit......
If accomodation is a concern - apart from the usual selection of motels etc,
there are probably still some rooms available in the student dorms at
Malaspina (check with Mo Beardsley about that, at
). Also, if you are able to camp, you are very
welcome to do so on my property on Thetis Island, and join us in the
gorgeous ferry ride to "the big island"........

Here's the original notice and details:

We are SO pleased and chuffed to be able to tell you all that Dannon Rhudy
will be giving a workshop here at Malaspina College in Nanaimo. Dannon
needs no introduction to clayarters - she is one of the most warmly regarded
contributors to the list - her wealth of experience, and the clarity and wit
of her explanations, are a joy. We are looking forward with great pleasure
to this workshop, and are sure that any clayarters in the vicinity will get
here if they possibly can. Particularly - any of you in southwestern
British Columbia or northwestern Washington State should find it an easy
trip. Please note the dates, and try to join us if you can - it will be a
wonderful opportunity!

Date: Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd ('98)
Time: Right after lunch - we will be opening the Tozan noborigama in the
morning, and Dannon's workshop will start after that. Saturday evening
Dannon will give a slide show, and Sunday will be workshop again.
Cost: $60 (Canadian)
Registration: At the BC Potters' Guild on Granville Island at (604) 669 - 5645,
or on Vancouver island at 468-7072 (Les Crimp,Parksville/Qualicum,
),
753-4026 (Jan Jokinen, Nanaimo, ), or
246-1509 (Veronica Shelford, Thetis Island/Ladysmith, )

Also, if you are interested in taking part in the Tozan firing, get in touch
with Gari Whelan at - the expected dates begin with
the loading of the kiln on August 7th and 8th, firing in the week following,
cooling the week after that, and the opening on the 22nd.

Accomodation & Meals: Information will be available closer to the time -
check with one of the above contacts.

If you are interested, I have added a page to my website, giving some
background on Dannon, and a picture or two. This will also list the
registration information, for your reference. The address is

(This workshop is being co-sponsored by the Arrowsmith Potters, the Nanaimo
Potters Co-op, and the Tozan Society)
