to all of you that use or are buying used fire bricks...go to it.
i have many of the same bricks in my kiln that i have had for 35 years.
they are still perfect.
i have built 4 kiln configurations from most of the same brick.
i also bought a kiln, almost new, fired 4 times....it was 25 years old..
30 cubic feet. paid $1,000 for it. shelves, posts, pyrom. the works.
had to take it down, cart if off....what a deal.
and they were glad to get rid of it.
many people call me with offers like that.
and i jump on them...that is how we have built 7 kilns at the farm.
we on occassion buy new brick for doorways, special needs.
but i can scrounge with the best of them.

i just repeat....build a good kiln that suits you.
and to fire old electric hulks is fun, and puts to rest an old dead kiln.

but way back when...maybe 1960, i built my first ifb kiln, about 30 cubic
feet, and it has paid me so much money it is hard to explain.
at some point every potter has to face the music..
you gonna be `one`, or spend the rest of your life wishing.
