That's ok Richard -- it took me 25 years to figure out that I could just make
one thick coil and cut it in half for my teapot handle loops. I never would
have figured that one out myself. I read it here on Clayart! DUH!

Thanks for the chuckle and reminder of what a great support group this is!

Warmest regards,
June(who just ITC'd her gas kiln, using a brush, again!)

P.S. Anyone have any tips on how to get my siphon sandblaster to spray this
stuff??? I tried 30lb,50lb and 100 lb pressure with my little hobby
compressor. It worked for a few seconds and then stopped feeding the material.
I had it pretty thinned out (like heavy cream). Could the long feeder hose be
a problem? I figure it's probably something very obvious that I'm missing,
again! :-( I have a larger compressor, but haven't tried that yet.
I want to ITC the insulating firebrick arch on my wood kiln too, but it would
be great to get this siphon sandblaster figured out. The brushing on old
fiber took forever!

Dear June when I was about to spray my kiln, Alice told me to cut the hose
in half. I had no trouble spraying, and altho I have only done one firing
so far, It seems to have been a good thing. I may however have over
reduced, becouse it was a longer than usual firing. great color and more
even temperature from top to bottom. good luck Rikki

Hi June,
We also used the siphon sand-blaster, 100 lbs. pressure, and thinned the ITC
alot. But we still only got it to work with both of us doing it together. One o
us ran the sprayer and the other held the hose and bucket and stirred the hose i
the bucket continuously as we sprayed. Also, once you start don't stop spraying
the hose will plug up immediately.
Hope this helps,
Sylvia

Shorten the hose as much as allowable for you to apply the ITC, and use
the bigger compressor that can easily 90 psi while you are spraying.

Thanks Sylvia! I've gotten a whole load of great tips, including shortening my
uptake hose and switching to my big compressor. Thanks Craig and Nils!
I found I could stir the ITC with my left hand as I sprayed with the right. I
never thought about the stopping bit. Maybe that was one of the problems. I
was going to spray the rest today and didn't get around to it, so I'll have to
wait until tomorrow to have another go at it and try all these great tips! I
still have two more kilns to spray!

Warmest regards,
June
