Hi:

Tony is right of course. GB and Wood Ash will flocculate glazes. I was
mistaken when I said they deflocculate a glaze. I understand what happens,
I just couldn't figure out which term was correct.

There is a lot of conflicting info about these terms. Phil Rogers says in
his book "Ash Glazes" that ash deflocculates a glaze. Bob Tichane says ash
will both flocc and deflocc a glaze, depending on the composition I would
assume. There is a very good explanation of this stuff in Parmelee's book,
"Ceramic Glaze", in the chapter on Mixing and Milling. Hamer's dictionary
has some good info on the subject too.
