------------------
i am planning an article for a trade publication (potters/craftspeople) on
the current state of selling functional pottery, and am seeking input from
potters selling their pots regularly at retail craft shows.

i realize some of these questions might be =22touchy=22 for some people, so =
any
information you send will be strictly confidential, and will only be
summarized for the article.

if you make functional pots, do retail craft shows and would like to help
out with the article, please answer the following questions and submit to
my email address.

how many shows do you do=3B what income amount do you consider to be a good
show (=24/day) - how much for a great show (=24/day)=3B what states do you =
show
in=3B how many shows per year=3B what is the range of price for your work=3B=
how
many people make pots in your shop (you, significant other, employees?)=3B =
is
your work thrown, cast, jiggered, combination=3B what temperature do you =
fire
to=3B has your business improved/declined over the past 5 years=3B do you =
have
a particular pot/color/style which sells better (you don't need to share
the pot style, if you don't want to)=3B is there a second (or third) income
in your household, or is your entire living making pots=3B are you an
academically trained potter, or self-taught=3B do you do any wholesale, and
what percentage of your business is that.

i hope you will take a few minutes and send along answers to some or all of
the questions. i am doing the article on a freelance basis, and will try
to sell it to a magazine like Crafts Report or Ceramics Monthly, depending
on the quality of the information i get. thanks in advance.
