Dear John,

Thanks for asking about the Leather glaze that I described in my article. Mat
white to brown glazes like the one that I described for cone 6 are pretty
common and easy at cone 10.

Rhodes #32 is a glaze that I used at cone 10 for years.
The recipe is:

50 Custer Feldspar
25 EPK Kaolin
20 Dolomite
5 Whiting.

There are lots of variations on that basic glaze, some add tin to make a white
that breaks to a brown, some bone ash for a yellow that breaks to a red
(depending on the amount of red iron oxide in the glaze and the amount of
reduction and the cooling rate).

Actually though, I would encourage your friend to consider working at cone 6.
As I said in the article I see lots of reasons to work at a lower temperature
and none for working at cone 10.
