Clayarters -
Marshall posted me about this privately and I responded, but he felt it
might be informative for others to hear about the kilns we have, and I
certainly want to jump at any opportunity to publicize our studios and programs.

Our ceramics studios are pretty oppulent, with about 10,000 sq.ft. indoors,
including a large kiln room, plus a large attached roofed area outside for
kilns, wood storage, etc. We have four top-loader electrics (L&Ls and
Paragons), two Unique front-loader electrics, two 30 cubic foot Norman gas
updrafts, one 45 cubic foot gas downdraft, a 6 cubic foot Norman gas updraft
test kiln, a two-chamber front-loader gas raku kiln, a 60 cubic foot gas
downdraft salt/soda kiln, a 20 cubic foot updraft gas car kiln used
primarily for sagger firing, a two chamber 80 cubic foot (40 per chamber)
Bourry-box wood kiln (designed by Doug Casebeer, built by Casebeer, Jane
Dillon, and Jane's students), and a brand new 200 cubic foot groundhog wood
kiln. We sort of put the cart before the horse in building the latter, and
cannot fire it until we have an appropriate supply of dry wood, which will
be in the early fall. El Nino is not helping in that regard.
