Years ago Orton had a competition for clay objects that could fit into a
cone box. Does anyone know if this competition is still going on.

Thanks, Cheryl

Cheryl-

Yes this still happens..... but is over for this year. I have
included the notice I put in our feburary newsletter regarding
this years show with contact people....

"..........the annual Orton Conebox Show at Baker University.
Deadline for this years entries is February the 20th and coming up
fast! Fee is $20.00 per entry (up to two pieces). Size must fit
into an old standard conebox (3"x3"x6"), minimum 50% clay. May be
in several sections. All pieces MUST be for sale and may travel
for up to 2 years. All pieces must be priced up to $100.00. All
purchase awards will be $100.00 regardless of price. Last year
there were 50 purchase awards and this year they hope for about
the same amount. The award winners will be at NCECA in Fort Worth
Texas this spring, and the whole show at NECEA in Columbus, Ohio
1999. The complete entry blank (ready to zerox) in the November
issue of Ceramics Monthly. For more info, contact Inge Balch,
Baker University Art Dept., Baldwin City, Kansas at
BALCH@HARVEY.BAKERU.EDU....."

Hope this helps.....

The Cone Box show was this spring. Just before NCECA in Fort Worth.
There they showed the award winners. The full display will be in
Columbus at the NCECA next year. It is a biannual show.
