am planning a trip out to the seattle area.... to check it out as a
possible destination for relocation.... any information about the
area would be much appreciated... have gotten use to the space here in
nh.... so what about areas away from the city... but close
enough to participate in the arts and culture.... an occasional
class... workshop... but with water/power/natural gas... all the
necessities....???

thanks for any input...

As someone who has lived in Seattle for seven years and is going CRAZY! from
lack of light, grey, wet and mold I say DON"T DO IT. But then again, I used
to love it here so maybe I shouldn't say anything. I grew up in Vermont,
lived in Wisconsin and Ohio before moving here and spent the first several
years grateful that it wasn't cold. But the thing about all the rain and
almost no sun is really true so if you need the sun its not a great idea.

But the arts, culture, mountains, etc. are all amazing. You might want to
check out Vashon Island -- a 20 minute ferry ride from Seattle. Its only got
10,000 people on it and is well out of the way of Seattle's traffic (the fifth
worst in the nation). Or Port Townsend (two hours from Seattle) is a pretty
awesome place.

Sorry for the dreary recommendation!
