Dear Clayart,

I am interested in a number of Japanese glazes and wonder if some members of
clayart can help me with the recipes and other info. The glazes are as
follows:

Shirahagi
Kiseto
Irabo
Ame
Tetsuaka
Yuteki
Namako
Kuroiro
Azukiakairo
Tomei
Oribe
Sekkainyuhaku

also:
Kaki
Nuka
(made famous by Shoji Hamada)

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help and
consideration.

Sincerely,
Alex

Here are some of the recipes your requested. Lead, barium and high copper do
not make for food safe glazes. I have not tested these, so they are given with
the usual disclaimers. I only have about 1300 glazes in my database so far
with another three thousand to go, if I live that long! :-) I was only able
to check the database. If I ever come across any of the others when going
through my notebooks, I'll try to post them here.
Also, you may want to check the Clayart archives. Ron Roy recently posted a
safer version of an Oribe type glaze that he re-formulated.

While you are going through your database do you happen to have a cone 6
gloss or matt glaze that breaks dramatically. I don't care what
color at this point I just want to try some high contrast on
some new pots I have carved.
I lost all my recipes from college and most of my books last year when
the garage flooded.
