discipline myself to respond only when the subject is something I have had a
lot of direct experience with. WD 40 in the extruder barrel or anywhere
else, will not affect being able to single fire glazing. I single fire
exclusively and use wd-40 in the barrel, have done so every time I have
extruded, and have also used it in other methods and tools with no ill effect.

Oh you caught me. I said "will" affect in regards to oxides & slip & only
correctly said "most likely" in regards to single fire glazing. Wd40 is a
petrolatum based product, oily to the touch, and used as a metal lubricant. I
couldn't be more surprised with your luck if you said I use really greasy hand
lotions when I handle my bisque ware & never have any glaze crawling.
The original question was posed as does anyone see any potential problems
using wd40 in an extruder & regardless of your results I still believe the oil
might, just maybe, affect slips & single fire. You are right to be concerned
about people offering conjecture as fact but when I'm thinking through a
process or making a decision I want lots of information & input. If I run into
a problem later I can look over the information & perhaps pinpoint the problem
faster.
I don't want to stifle anyone's creative troubleshooting or brainstorming when
I'm gathering ideas & information.
