graphite clay

I little off topic but just in case someone knows:
I need to provide a sample of clay to a smelter. They line ladles,
spouts, chutes, etc with this clay to run molten metal against.
The clay contains graphite which apparently prevents the metal from
sticking. What I don't know is how much graphite to use and what
kind of graphite (flake or powder).
