"Cups & Altered Forms"
Sandi Pierantozzi & Neil Patterson are giving hands-on workshops in their studio
in
Philadelphia, PA Saturday and Sunday, April 25 & 26, from 10 to 5 each day.
Cost is $65 per day, choose one day or both, fee includes materials & lunch.
For further information or to register, call Sandi & Neil at 215/763-8439.

Description from their flyer -
"On Saturday we will investigate functional cups made on the wheel and off.
Sandi will use slabs to handbuild a variety of cups and Neil will demonstrate
various forms on the wheel. Since we have only one wheel, participants will
handbuild. Cups of different sizes and forms will be covered. We will discuss
various ways of making handles and how to choose the proper handle for each cup.

"On Sunday we will demonstrate how various forms can be made by altering
cylinders. This will include faceting, cutting darts, paddling and combining
parts. On both days, Sandi will show how to apply texture to clay using found
objects, inlaid cut out shapes, clay stamps and bisque molds of textured
surfaces which the clay is rolled on, producing a full slab of texture. Neil
will show how to apply texture on the wheel. A discussion and short demo on
terra sigillata will also be included. Stoneware and earthenware will be
available. The work you make will be taken home at the end of each day. (We
don't have adequate storate facilities to fire.) Participants should bring
their own tools and are encouraged to bring their favorite drinking cup and any
items they have which would make good textures in clay. In this workshop you
can plan on learning a lot and having a good time. Open to all levels."
