Fellow Clayarters:

I am seeking information about Iron saturate cone 6 oxidation or cone
10 Reduction glazes. If anyone knows where to get information on these
glazes -- books, articles, glaze recipes, etc.-- I would very much
appreciate it if you could let me know. Basically, I love these glazes and
would like to use them on some of my pots. Thanks, -=Rick=-

An old one: Ketchup Cone 10

Potash Spar 160.
Bone Ash 45.
Flint 20.
Ball Clay 15.
Dolomite 25.
Lepidolite 2.5
____
267.5

Plus 10% Red Iron

This is from before the days of calculation programs, so is not in percent
format. Also, don't think Lepidolite is available any more. But it was a
good orangy red so might be worth revision.

Have more: MO Plum, Keator, 4/3/2/1, Cushing, Boubaric, and Tomatoe. Are
you looking for plum colored saturates or red/orangy ones?

I saw Ketchup in oxidation and know it works. Also in reduction. Don't
know if the list of others work in oxidation. I think that to make
better saturates in oxidation you increase the amount of iron? Anybody
know about that?

Saturated iron glazes: All Cone 10
Some of them don't add up to 100. Sorry.
Although many recommend 8% iron for a red, I think they often need more.
So if you test these and they are temmokus instead of iron saturates, add
more iron.
