DLHA on mon 30 mar 98

There will be a two day workshop in Primitive Firing Techniques at the
Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon CT. I think this will be an exciting two
day experience for anyone interested in raku and painting wil fire and smoke.
The instructor will be Tim Scull. He has an extensive background in these
techniques and will explore the following:
PIT FIRING, SAGGAR FIRING, SAWDUST FIRING, RAKU, CANDY RAKU, PAINTING WITH
SMOKE, FUMING WITH HORSE HAIR AND OTHER ORGANIC MATTER. Application of terra
sig, burnishing, slab and slip resist techniques will also be covered.
Participants may bring 20-25 pots so you can experience every technique
first hand. I believe you will go away from this weekend with so much info and
energy.
The dates are MAY 2 and MAY 3, 1998. The fee is only $155 for non-members,
$140 for FVAC members. Space is limited so call 860-678-1867 for more info.
You will be advised on suggested clay bodies, bisquing temps, and number and
size pots for each technique.
