don,
i couldn't send this msg directly to your e-mail site, failed twice. so,
here comes my suggetsion about your refirred raku.

i also refire cone 10 pieces (mostly vases) occasionally re-glazed
with raku glaze. as they are not porous any more, they are less heat
resilient (my interpretation). need slower firing schedule, especially in
the beginning. my common sense tells me :
1. i don't think it loses vitrification. vitrification is nort reversible.
2. it is safe to contain liquid. safe=3Dno leak, no seep.
3. it is not safe to contain food exposed to Raku-glazed surface.
3a. it is safe if not Raku-glazed inside (of the containers) (and if raku
glaze is used only outside) but, then, it may not be wise to dish-
wash them frequently, especially if crackles are, visible or not,
behind the charming finish.
happy refiring.
terry

btw, well, this is about the CO detectror on a different thread. (not
about refiring, but something else, whatever.) i remember there exists
a CO detector, other than canaries. how does it work? using a
chemical reaction?
