reduction firing in electric kilns and co

Another consideration is the danger of carbon monoxide escaping
into the room where the kiln is housed. For the most part electric kilns
can be ventilated with minimal ventilation systems. However, with the
combustion of propane or methane, especially in a reducing atmosphere, the
combustion products of water vapor, carbon dioxide and deadly carbon
monoxide needs to be greatly considered so that no one is endangered. The
ventilation system, a "power venter" perhaps, would need to be well thought
out and perhaps a CO detector installed in proximity of the kiln.
