Greetings:

One of my daughters recently moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. Last year I gave
her a used wheel and she wants to start to learn to use it. Does anyone
know of classes in the vicinity? (Edmond is just North of Oklahoma City)

Send any suggestions to my address: rschenz@primenet.com

Thank you,

Richard Schenz

Richard:
Your daughter has just moved into the city that houses, in mho, the best
and kindest pottery teacher in the country. At the University of Central
Oklahoma one Franklin W. Simons in professor of art in Ceramics. He is a
very mature, kind, sensitive and wonderful teacher. I don't give such
glowing recomendations often, but this guy is one in a million. He knows
the craft as well as any and is fully open and holds no secrets from his
students. He encourges them to explore the possibilities and guides them
to make sure they get it right. He was my pottery instructor many years
ago and has only gotten better and better with each year.

I hope your daughter will contact him at the ceramice department of the UCO
art department. She's in for a real treat and a wonderful learning
experience.
