Somebody asked a couple of days ago, about what kind of spraying
equipment they should get for those occasional large pieces that were
too big to dip. I have found that an old cannister vacuum cleaner
(Electrux, Filter Queen, etc) with a spray attachment works wonderfully
for laying down a coat of glaze quickly without too much overspray. I
find it much better than my ancient 1\2 hp compressor and gun kit. It is
much quieter and seems to be more comparable to an HVLP sprayer although
I have never tried one of those. Of course, if you are doing production
spraying and/or airbrushing a large compressor and professional spraygun
can't be beat, but a vacuum cleaner and sprayer can usualy be found at
flea markets for under $30.

Hello Eric,
I'm fascinated by your idea of a vacuum sprayer. I'm not exactly sure
how it works or what type of sprayer attachment would fit the vacuum
cleaner. The cleaner I can easily find. Any more info would be
helpful.

The sprayer attachment is the one that comes with the vacuum cleaner.
You sometimes have to search to find the complete set. It is nothing
more than a flit type aspirator sprayer, similar to a Critter/Bailly
sprayer. You take the hose of the vacuum cleaner from the suction end,
put it in the place where the air exits (make sure the filter bag is
clean or else you may end up spraying crud with your glaze) and attach
the sprayer to the end of the hose. The sprayer slips on like all the
other attachments. Turn the vacuum on and air will start going through
the sprayer, it has a trigger or button that you depress and hold to
spray. The sprayers that I have found take standard mason jars so it is
easy to have different jars for all your glazes. You can also recognize
the sprayer if it doesn't come with the jar because it looks like a
threaded jar cap with a tube on top and two tubes going down into where
the jar should be. Finally, make sure when you buy the attachment that
the button on top does depress and that it causes the aspirator tube on
the bottom to open and close, if it doesn't the sprayer won't work.
Good luck
