sometimes we are victims of our own internet system....it is too easy
to look at others images and want them for ourselves....i want to
fire just like jack troy, i want clennells shino, i want to fire in nils lou's
big anagama..............but sorry, those are not mine to be had...so
back to my stuff...and make it work. and then be at least a little
satisfied.....look to yourself, be influenced by your heros, but you
must make it happen with your stuff.

Mel: Maybe Jack and Nils kilns are not yours but you are sure welcome to
clennells shino. It is actually not even mine . It is Malcolm Davis
Carbon trap #2 from Jack Troys woodfired book. there is a picture of one of
my pots in that book if you're interested.
The secret to that glaze for us is a great big list of things. We have had
better luck by adding a iron bearing clay to our stoneware- we add Neumann
from the land of OJ. We reduce heavily at cone 010 for 2 hours then light
reduction to Cone 9, then oxidize to cone 10. try it you'll like it.
I'll bet that glaze would zing pretty nicely on your clay body. If you
don't have the book zap me and I'll send you the formula. also use Gustins
Shino which is pretty sexy too!
