Main advantage of doing it this way is that you will only get kids who are =
interested in doing art.
My first year doing our after school program was as a volunteer. Had a coup=
le of discipline issues...my experience as a Mother of many children came i=
n handy. Even though these are 'at risk' kids the last ten years have been =
great fun.
Don't think the financial picture is going to be changing in the near futur=
e. Why make the kids suffer?
I'd say go for it. If it doesn't work out it doesn't. You'll never know unt=
il you try. Working with interested kids is VERY rewarding. And even better=
in an informal atmosphere.
