I wondered if anyone has ever used an Artist Rep and what the experiences have
been. What is the standard(if there is one) percentage? In terms of
approaching galleries is it better to do it yourself or have a rep ? Also
what is the best way to contact catalogues to sell your work? Any thoughts
and/or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks Alot!

In the gift industry the standard rep commission is 15-20%. Reps will
often take your work to market free or for a small fee (shared expenses
with other mfgs in the booth.) This commission is paid only after the
entire transaction has been completed (the customer has paid, the check is
good). Most (gift) reps are looking for producers of high volume so that
they can write BIG orders (20,000-50,000). Very few artists use reps... it
rarely works out.
Good Luck
Wendy
