Mel said "making a simple small flat top kiln is easy and most of
the bugs are worked out" I have built flat top kilns since 1965, and =3D
the system=3D20
I use is simple to construct. Mel is correct! The roof of the kiln is =3D
made with independent rows of bricks, rods going thru the brick, an =3D
angle iron piece on top of the brick row with nichrome wire going under =3D
the rod , up and twist tied the the angle iron. I have built the foof =3D
for a fire box, my wood kiln that the brick rows that span 90" without =3D
an issue of any kind. They could be longer.

My article is in Mel's "21st Century Kilns" and is in my Flickr account =3D
with pictures of the building process, pictures of kilns and pots....

With this system, a kiln can actually be built around a huge piece, the =3D
roof put on and fired....
