here is a simple break down on colleen's 125 pots.

we re/cycled a big batch of clay. cost...our work
5 gallons of iron red...about 8-9 bucks. she used about 3 gallons total.
remember, it is mostly water. bisque firing...25 bucks.
fire the gas kiln. natural gas...25 bucks sorry, i have gone over this
before. i am hooked to a house meter. it cannot measure the gas very
well. people always think i am fibbing. sorry just a fact. my budget bil=
l
for gas is less than four neighbors....and, that includes the kiln/studio.
i have a very well insulated house and studio.

if we would have purchased enough glaze, ready made...about
$250 bucks.
the clay would have been at least 100 bucks+.
would we have achieved that great vermillion color?...i doubt it.

it is just like buying a 45 dollar steak in a fine restaurant.
how much to make it at home? 8 bucks.

all of that $350 bucks would have come out of our hide.
might as well flush it down the toilet.
