We totally agree, Square is the best credit card company on the
market. Each sale is tracked, you receive confirmation in seconds,
back-up confirmation in minutes, complete days sales by the end of
the day, you can put records that show all information about what you
sold, take a photo of item or customer, whatever, and the money is in
your bank in just a couple of days.

And yes, 2.75% is it, NO OTHER CHARGES. (Oh, should say... if someone
calls in an order and just gives you the number but you don't have
the card to swipe, then that transaction is 3.75. Makes sense, tho,
more risk involved) But NO hidden charges, monthly feels transaction
fees, nothing!

How many folks know that Square also ISSUES credit cards. And guess
the rate on those cards that you use like any other credit card!
Hmmm? Yes, 2.75%, that's all, folks.

Heck, you can use it at a garage sale, selling lemonade, Yep!

We hear tell that the Obama campaign volunteers are going to be using
Square as well.

And customers get a kick out of the tiny "dongle" that plugs into
your cell phone and swipes their cards! Yep, Square! They sign with a
finger tip (not fingernail). I tell the customers that they can keep
their rate so good because they are so cute!

See you all tomorrow!
Nighters,
Rita & Joe

I haven't found any credit card system that beats
"Square" see:
https://squareup.com/
One does need a smart phone and phone reception at your location.
Last year credit cards were prolly 2/3 my sales.
With Square there are no paper transactions, no calls to credit card
company, no nickel & dime charges, *no* monthly fees & card verification is
fast so there is peace of mind there too. Additionally there are fast
responses to questions, deposits are made to the bank of my choice within
1-3 days, customer receipt goes to email or cell phone. WIth Square I can
take Visa/Mastercard, Discover and American Express. I was limited to
Visa/Mastercard before.
Sales are easily tracked and you can get statements.
I'm a very happy customer... I can't say any of the above about the big
bank I was using for 11 years.

Gayle - no connection to this business except for being a happy customer
I recall how wildly happy I was when I called my big bank merchant services
and told them I was canceling their service! That was a great day!

I will second Gayle's recommendation. 2.75% is just fine by me. That's
2.75% period: no fees, no leasing of equipment, nada. Very easy to
understand what the swipe is going to cost you. I do not do the volume
of selling that most sellers on the list do, but what little I have
done has been made easier with square. E receipts (with photos if I
choose), running total of sales, and touch pad signing. Nice. I can
even use the built in transaction recorder even if I take cash/checks.
Have had no problems so far. An artist in a nearby booth used her ipad
along with a verizon hotspot in order to use her square. I know
because the hot spot needed charging and the wire was draped across my
table for a time. No worries at all. She seemed to be pleased with her
set up as well.

A local pizza maker who works out of a trailer, even uses square. He's
been happy as well. Good pizza too.

Me too. I just inherited my wife's iphone 3 so I could take Square.
Just used it for the first time last week and I love it. Cheap, easy
and simple. I had Propay before which worked OK since I don't do a
lot of credit card sales and usually not for very big amounts. Then
at my holiday sale, a couple wanted to charge two $1000 paintings. I
did it because Propay had told me there was a simple procedure for
taking charges over my limit. Procedure, yes, simple, no. It was a
nightmare, and they're still holding 25% of the money for four
months. Get a Square.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I use the Square on an iPod touch.
If wifi isn't available at the site, I simply do the knuckle buster
and then enter the transaction when I get home. Delayed entered items
are slightly more expensive, but competitive.

You can also keep track of cash and check transaction and even
send a recipe with a photo of the item.
I switched over from Propay.

Good luck with customer service and the square. If you are seriously looki=

After going through one long haul of identity theft and new social security=

Just check around....... Oh and I use an iPad for sales.

Good sales to all!

I have been using Square with my android phone for about a year.
It is great. I love it. I can send an instant receipt. I have a record.
Sends receipts for cash sales as well. The world of apps is an exciting new
playing field.
I have, for years, kept a Paymentech account. $3.50/month base fee, through
Potters Council. Discount rates similar to square. I am done with that. I
do not know why I have kept it over this last year. I thought I needed it
for phone or mail orders, but that is not so. Just pay the higher rate on
square.
Gayle, you inspire me to take the leap and discontinue with them. Wasted
money. I will cancel it tomorrow...or why not today.
