wheel controller

I bought a used Brent kiln. It has a funky speed control knob on the
side (like a rheostat (sp) that you would put on the wall for lights).
I've always used a foot control so I wasn't sure how I'd like this,
however, I think I like it better than a foot controller. My foot was
getting prone to shaking in my old age of 48. Does anyone else have a
hand control like this?

Greg,
I haven't got the Brent like you mentioned, but I do have an old, old
Soldner wash tub wheel. The one with the foot control mounted directly
onto the wheel. I placed the wheel into my work bench so I could stand at
it. This placed the foot control at about fingertip height and was
perfect for hand control. I also found that it was much more comfortable
on my back to have both feet on the ground. It took that unnecessary
temptation to change the speed away also. Much more consistency in my
throwing. More productive.
