Another point for thought: parents often see sports as possibly leading to
careers worth millions, and art as leading to careers worth nothing.

Something in someone else's post reminded of this, which I was told by an
aquiantance when I was lamenting the lack of music in our schools. Music,
like language, not only needs to be learned at an early age, but also
patterns the young brain to be better at problem-solving. There are
studies that prove this, but I dare say there are also studies that prove
how sports are good for young people (which I don't dispute).
