Hello All,
Recently some inaccurate information concerning Gerstley Borate and
Cornwall stone was presented as fact in two established ceramic publicati=

ons.
The facts concerning the current supply of Gerstley Borate, are as foll=

ows;
The rumors that this product would become unavailable very soon are wholl=

y
inaccurate. The supply (3000 tons or 6,000,000 pounds as of 6/18/2011) w=

ill
last for many years, and because it is a stockpile (not a changing source=
=3D

from an active mine) the chemical analysis (available at the support sect=

ion
http://www.lagunaclay.com/support/ ) will remain quite consistent. This
product has also been tested in the traditional =3DE2=3D80=3D9CFloating Blu=

=3D80=3D9D glaze and
the results were excellent. Laguna received a communication from the
publication of intent to print a retraction but we have not seen it
published as of today.=3D20
The facts concerning Cornwall Stone. The chemical analysis of the
replacement product which was recently published in an article and
associated with a product supplied by a single American supplier matches
EXACTLY the chemical analysis of the product Laguna Clay Company receives=

directly from the English Cornwall supplier. The product has a much mor=

consistent texture (no lumps, horay!) and the substitution has been a

supplied by Laguna can be viewed and downloaded at

No, Laguna has not mentioned the name of either publication. Laguna d=

not wish to embarrass or promote these publications. The intent of this
release is to provide potters with accurate information which will help t=

hem
buy affordable, quality products without paying extra just to have a
particular suppliers name on the bag. How did the authors of these artic=

get such incomplete, inaccurate information? Even though Laguna has
suppliers world wide (http://www.lagunaclay.com/distributors/ ) they did =

not
acquire information or samples for testing from Laguna Clay Company, a ma=

known supplier of ceramic raw materials.
