walker pug mill info needed

We're doing some maintenance on the Walker , spider coupling and seals.
I have read everything posted on Clayart about these mills and have
downloaded
John Posts PDF manual. Thank you John.
I believe I have ordered the right spider coupling, a Lovejoy L110 but have
not received it yet.
The old double lip seals are pulled but are so corroded the numbers cannot
be read.
The shaft is 1.5 inches and the outside diameter is 2.5. (from what I can
understand
this may be a pre "65 machine, it is hard to figure out from the
description in the manual)
Searching for seals of these proportions is proving futile without a number=
.
I often read that Grainger
carries most parts needed but if someone with experience could head me in
the right direction
for ordering the right seal it would be much appreciated.

You should be able to get everything you need at a bearing supply place.
I prefer a dedicated bearing supply house over the more general
Granger's.
It's best if you can just take the old parts with you. If that is not
possible your measurements are probably good enough for the seals.
Real seals are better than trying to make your own, and are required
if you are referring to the seals on the gear reducer, but, for the auger
shaft anything that will keep clay away from the bearings is good.
If you can find an old non-wire reinforced tire, the sidewall will
make a good tough gasket.

There are different grades of spider couplings. There are red ones
and black ones, and some are more durable, and, of course, more
durable is better. When my Bluebird was new I kept having trouble
with the coupling until they finally sent me a better spider. A good
bearing supply counter man will know. It might be worth trying to
call Lovejoy or search the World Wide Web.

Thanks everyone for your help in getting my Walker back in operation.
For the record here is what we did, maybe it will help someone else with
their fix.

The rubber spider I first ordered was the correct diameter but the spider
spokes were about
1/4 inch too narrow, we installed it and it worked just fine but Tom was
adament we find the correct one,
which was a Gerbring G1000. (stamped inside) Although the company was out
of business a few could be found online
ranging from $31 to $59. An eBay search yielded 2 items and I got a new on=
e
for $12 shipped, perfect.

We haven't found replacement seals yet but we cleaned up the old double
lipped
seals and inserted 2, inch and a half o-rings in each. They are doing the
job.

The Walker is humming along like new and hasn't eaten me yet.
