Hi Clayart,

I've had very nice results using fine silicon carbide in glaze ^8/9 oxidati=
on. Used sealed saggars and pot placed on a bed of wood chips. David Leach =
Porcelain body. Very critical where placed in kiln, thickness of glaze, etc=
. etc. Worth testing if this is something you really, really want.

Good question regarding reduction effects on elements. No problems. I'd li=
ke to make it clear that the entire kiln load was not given over to saggars=
. Being prudent and aware of problems we placed a few saggars into the load=
s. And kiln room industrially vented. The kind of vent that would suck up l=
oose paper, plastic bags, small children, and toupes.
