wenson.

Actually I never think about selling....if it happens...ok...but not my mot=
ivation...I do not need the money...I live in China....have a good income f=
rom teaching...as I always have had. I do the art for myself. My father =
advised me of this. Regular income....do nice for yourself. Make yourself =
happy in your private life.

I live for the spice...in the food...in my work. What I arise for at 6 Am =
everyday...and go to sleep at 9 PM...Early to bed and early to rise....my w=
hole life...since I was 6 years old.

Thanks RIc,

What beautiful pieces! I hope you are very pleased with your sales!
Are the winged vessels new? I don't recall seeing them before.

Your students are very lucky to have you!

I drooled at your brushwork and the brush.... I am jealous that you have ea=
sy access to those wonderful brushes!
I started making my own brushes but they take so long and I just cannot be =
away from clay too long or I start to feel I am wasting valuable time.
That birthday coming up is starting to get to me (66) and I resent anything=
that pulls me away from having my hands in clay!
Obsessed?..... you betcha!

So I have a question. I'm thinking my work is now mature enough to jury in=
to shows but I cannot bring myself to fill out applications.
I don't fear rejection as I have been an artist for a long time and have a =
hard skin. When I see a call for artists that I think might be interesting
I shy away when I see the application. I think, "This show is months away a=
nd that means I cannot sell the piece now." Stupid thinking I suppose!
Then there is the shipping and commissions and revising my statement etc. P=
erhaps I'm just lazy!

So what is my question? I guess I'm asking what is the real purpose for hav=
ing a show.... sales, exposure, resume, status? I'm not sure what is my mot=
ivation exactly. I know since college days I have avoided any status in the=
art world and prefer to meet my customers. So though I look at the calls f=
or artists I bail before I finish reading them. Anyway I am impressed when =
others have gallery shows as they do something I can't bring myself to do.

Thanks again for the photos. Let me know if you'd like to see some of my ne=
w pieces.

And BTW that dinner table had me drooling!
