Some of the flue sizes are in many cases made overly large and in most =3D
cases a smaller flue opening will suffice. I have a 45 cubic foot kiln =3D
with a suspended flat roof. I use 4 Pyronics 80 ET venturi burners on =3D
my kiln and the flue opening is 5" X 8". The floor system is different =3D
than most kilns. If you look at my Flickr site the floor system and =3D
kilns are shown .. The kiln is about 5' 9" tall on the inside and the =3D
kiln fires the same on the lower shelf and fires the same at the top. =3D20
The steel clad kiln on Flickr has 6 Pyronics 80 ET burners and it fires =3D
evenly and without effort. The Flickr site also has my article on =3D
suspended flat top kiln construction. =3D20

Wally Schwab has a 40 cubic foot kiln firing with Alfred burners and the =
=3D
flue opening is 2 1/2" x 9". His kiln still needs to use the damper. =

Look at his glazes fired in his kiln. His kiln and firing process =3D
produces beautiful glazes both matt and glossy surfaces.
