Hi

I'm having a problem with Ron Roy's Black magic cone 10 glaze, I can't prod=
uce the nice dark black/brown finish every time, one time its rust red the =
other its the nice glossy black. Doesn't matter where in the kiln it is. I =
fire Cone 10 reduction in a HF 24 updraft kiln. My glaze 1.50 sp., well mix=
ed and I dip for 6 seconds. Any ideas or help would be very much appreciate=
d.

Hi Bryan,

Application is crucial - too thin and you get the red - too thick and
you don't get the nice breaking to red.

Could also be cooling time - is there a big variation there.

Keep in mind that thin ware will get soaked when glazed on the inside
and not be absorbent enough to get a proper coat on the outside.

Is your glaze deflocculated?

Is it related to uneven bisquing?
