Help

I am firing a Geil Gas kiln and the top is hot.

Does anyone know what to do to get it even top and bottom?

Thanks in advance

There are lots of things to do. Without knowing the
least about what you do/are doing, then -first, slow it
down. S-l-o-w i-t d-o-w-n. A kiln with a problem of
hot spots can often be evened out by slowing the firing.
Give it time.

Collette,
Probably too late, but turn down pressure to slow down firing a bit and pul=
l
out damper.

Contact me if you are firing with natural or propane.
I will also give you settings for pressure and damper settings for more
even firing.
Last thing - how you stack the kiln can also affect top to bottom heat.

Your Geil should have come with an instruction booklet. In the booklet are =
instruction for evening out the kiln. If I remember (I had a Geil twenty ye=
ars ago), to even out the temperatur, slow down the kiln by turning t he bu=
rners down to about 2"WC and push in the damper till you get a neutral flam=
e, and only turn up the heat to maintain or slightly rise temperature. You =
might also play around with your damper setting. If you you use a double F=
luke with two thermocouples, after 5 minutes or so after minor damper adjus=
tment you should be able to find the right setting.

Warm regards,
June
