bluebird clay tap & die update

For those that were interested in the clay tap & die idea, I have this news=
.
Due to manufacturing cost versus retail price point considerations, and the
moderate interest level, Bluebird Manufacturing has indicated that they
cannot make the tap and dies sets at this time. They may as time is
available look for manufacturing alternatives to lower the cost, but I am
not holding my breath.

Personally I will try the idea, I think Lili mentioned, of making parallel
horizontal "rings" in a spout and then making a cut and pulling up one side
one space to make a spiral, threadlike ramp. This would seem to work for
the external thread, but how to make the internal thread? I didn't see tha=
t
one described, unless I missed it. I suppose you could do the same idea to
the inside of the mating cap, but it would seem tough to get the diameters
to match properly, much less the spiral. But as has been said many times;
test, test, test.

Hi John,

I just wanted to thank you for trying to get Bluebird to produce the tap
and die sets. It is too bad that it is not viable for them.

I guess we will all have to try the various methods described by others on
Clayart.

All the best and good luck.
