Over time I've used the waste heat from my kiln to dry the next load
of greenware, clothes and shoes, and even cooked beans on top of the
electric kiln before I started adding an extra lid to conserve
energy... But the other day a family member went swimming with their
cell phone, where it sat in the water for about 15 minutes before we
found it. I opened it up as much as possible, set it about 4 inches
above the current kiln firing, and reassembled it in the morning and
powered it up. Better living through pottery!
