help for a japanese potter

I hope this request is appropriate for clayart.....

I'm writing to Clayart to ask for help for Mr. Kennichi Saito, a Japanese
potter friend who lives in the hills near the port of Kessennuma in Miyagi
prefecture - the area that suffered the worst damage from the recent
earthquake. His multi-chamber climbing kiln was totally demolished
by the earthquake, and as he is an 'independent' potter (not affiliated
with any group) he must bear the entire cost of rebuilding it.

I've known Mr. Saito for over 20 years, and I have great respect for
him, both as a potter and as a friend. He himself has not asked me
for any help... the request came from friends of his in Japan and
southern California. So, if anyone on clayart can offer financial
aid of any kind, please e-mail me off list and I'll pass on addresses,
ways to send money, etc.

thanks..... Gary Holt
