my story, broken casserole

Mel,
Scary story. And, our experiences are what shape us, so I can't argue =3D
with yours. I haven't had the same experience, so my take is a bit =3D
different. =3D20
As for business insurance, I'm all for it. I have carried it for nearly =
=3D
30 years now...covers property inside the studio, up to $10, 000 in =3D
losses on ware, either in the studio or on the road, liablility in case =3D
my ware causes injury ($2 million) and all kinds of other things. I =3D
also have another personal $2 million dollar umbrella policy. Mine is =3D
not expensive. I hadn't used this policy until last year when the local =
=3D
firemen who rented a room above me for their poker games put in an =3D
illegal bathroom, then got modest and walled it in away from the heat =3D
source, and it froze, and the pipes ran for about 12 hours over the =3D
weekend until someone discovered the leak. The insurance company gave =3D
me 3 times what I claimed. After months and months of cleaning =3D
everytime I picked up something I hadn't moved since the incident, I =3D
understand why they did this. But, knock on wood, I haven't had a =3D
liability claim yet. =3D20
I say make what you're comfortable making. Make what you want to make. =
=3D
Don't make what you think you "should" make. Don't necessarily make =3D
what gets used. I suspect there are a lot of soy bottles not used for =3D
soy, ceramic "watering cans" not used in and around the garden, and =3D
ewers with 12 inch impossibly thin and curvy spouts not used at the =3D
table. But, if you're not making something because of liability issues, =
=3D
don't make that decision until you've given it a lot of careful rational =
=3D
thought.
Best to you,

Interesting that.=3D20
In the UK almost all market type events insist you have Public Liability in=
s=3D
urance before you can take part.=3D20
Mine is very reasonably priced indeed and the coverage is good.=3D20

My thought, (rather than having a casserole freak me out), is that
maybe over engineering, by using flameware clay for ovenware may be a
better route to safety.
