Hi Lis A et al, Going to approach this problem in a slightly different way.=

Neat tips on batt lore. I also remove the splash pan, place larger batt on=

pins, use very very soft body, a heat gun or if it's the last piece of the=
=3D
day leave over night, and patience. I take a lot of time to true up the cl=
=3D
ay on a slow wheel, true up bottom edge with bamboo tool careful not to gro=
=3D
ove the batt, then use elbow or wrist or forearm to open. Sloooowly. I've a=
=3D
lso used a belt inspired device around the clay to help true it. I also use=
=3D
a mirror to eyeball profile. Crucial aid as I'm not so bendy anymore. Whe=
=3D
n I come back next day I can take form up or out where I need to, and/or us=
=3D
e the heat gun to assist forming. Big stuff is a slightly different mind-se=

t from production throwing, don't you find? I once had a guy come into my s=

hop/workshop scornfully glance at the bowl of water in the spash pan and sa=

y that he often just threw with a dab from his coffee. We sat him down at o=

ne of our wheels handed him a ball of clay and smiled expectantly. He had a=
