cracked, dry skin

Hi All,

Instead of worrying with dry, cracked skin, I just use surgical gloves whil=
e
working in the studio. There is a learning curve to throwing with gloves
but it sure saves the ole hands. The key is to find the best (tightest)
fit.

I guess people can get used to whatever they have to get used to in =3D
order to
get 'er done. I am glad that this works for you, and I mean that =3D
sincerely,
but I cannot imagine working with clay with a layer of latex or silicone
between me and the clay. I love the feel of the clay. Also, when I =3D
work
inside rubber gloves and start sweating, that screws up my skin worth =3D
than
anything else I could possibly do. I won't describe what happens, =3D
because
it is too disgusting. I'll stick with hand-cr=3DE8me. =3D20

Please don't take this as a criticism of what you wrote, because I am =3D
sure
that gloves work fine for some people. I actually got out of washing =3D
dishes
when I was a teenager, because wearing gloves was even worse than not
wearing gloves in terms of what it did to my hands. My brother and =3D
sister
thought I had somehow orchestrated the skin outbreaks. You know how
siblings can be at that age. =3D20

Hi David,

I believe you are quite right about this.

I am reminded of some readings I had done in the 1970s, of the writings of
Adel Davis, and, Paavo Airola.

And, the horrors of hydrogenated or rancid fats and oils of any sort, which
have come to seriously taint so much of the present american diet.

I can say also, that my wonderful brindle Whippet, and our other four Dogs
back when, all smelled wonderful, even inside their Ears smelled lovely (
please folks, those of you who have Dogs, put your Nose into the inside of
your Dogs Ear, and, take a good whiff...does it smell 'good'? ) , had suppl=
e
clean skin and shiney coats, and, loved their Cod Livers and also good Oliv=
e
Oil poured on to their Walter Kendal Fives grain based Kibble...even as the=
y
enjoyed their fresh ground Flax Seed meal and or Brewer's Yeast being added
to their chow.

Mostly we fed them good quality Ocean Fish or Sardines or Mackerel and so
on, and or portions of whatever we were eating, and, they were entirely fin=
e
with this, and, the occasional raw Cow femur Bone or other. As well as
occasional sources of fresh Chlorophyll.

While, other people's Dogs whom we knew, even the show Dogs with all the
special canned diet stuff, all smelled bad, had dry itchy skin, skin
problems, stinky Ears, and, did not possess naturally 'glossy' Coats.

Birds whom one may happen to have as members of the family, similarly
benefit from Natural Oils, sources of chlorophyll, and, natural sources of
Iodine in their diets, of course.

When I have Baby Songbirds to raise and release, or Baby or convalescing
juvenile or adult omnivorous Birds to care for, and, release, they always
get Water Pack Sardines, "two Layer", and, Canned Cod Livers, and Chlorella
and finely minced Cilantro, ( and Sea Weed , and Goji Berries, and...)
which, they love to eat and or have fed to them...as well as tutelage in
catching Bugs or Mice or whatever, also of course, as appropriate.

That and a little raw Garlic now and then...where, there is nothing quite a=
s
charming as infant Song Birds, gaping to be fed, who have Sardine or Snipe
and Garlic breath, if I do say so myself...other than, maybe, Puppies with
garlic and Sardine Breath or, Morning Doves who as friendly Juveniles or
Adults, who in landing on one's shoulder to say 'Hello!', do so with garlic
Breath ( but as Granivores, no Cod Livers or Sardines, for them...though
they do like Cilantro and Sea Weed ).

Lol...

And true...

My original Shop Cat here, who had been a wild Cat born Wild, for six years
or more prior to electing to adopt me...for the four or five years she live=
d
with me here, coming and going as she liked, sleeping every night right nex=
t
to my Head, like a perfect Sphinx...

She only ate the Mice and Bugs she would catch here, and, the Mice ate Bugs=
,
and, the Bugs and the Mice also ate the fresh Olive Oil strewseled Bird See=
d
and fresh Greens and dry Sea Weed and Brewer's Yeast the Birds have set out
for them, so, the Mice here were all very healthy, shiney Coats, robust, an=
d
wholesome.

She similarly then smelled wonderful, and was always getting compliments
from people who would ask me "What do you do for her Coat to be so sleek an=
d
shiney and clean, her skin so sweet smelling?" and so on...and, I would say=
,
" I feed her nothing, never brush or comb her, never bathe her, and, the
Mice and Bugs she catches and eats on her own, are well fed and wholesome a=
s
an incidental to the Bird situation on which they opportune!"

Ohhhhhhh, golly...

Yuppers, Flax Seeds, Cod or Shark Livers...whole, small Ocean Fish...good
Olive Oil...all very important for the Skin and everything else, too.

I do not think the American diet has ever been as bad as it is now, for man
or Beast.

Hi ya'll
Just as a healthy skin will open or close pores to conserve fluids (water)
in dry climes or open when in higher humidity; so it will also produce more
of it's own natural skin emollients (oils) if induced to do so. Of cours=
e
one must consume Good oils like Cold Pressed Olive oils, Flax oils, eat fis=
h
etc and avoid processed additive laden (non foods) to be internally healthy
enough to get these natural benefits to work, but it works if one pays
attention.

The same nutrition that makes a dog's coat shine will make ours shine as
well.

When I am off clay for a spell and then begin to throw serious production
again it takes about a week for my skin to begin to adjust and nourish (oil
up) from with in. By three weeks it is on track and no need for external
oils which if used as a supplement just sends the message to the skin that
it doesn't need to respond and produce more of it's own. This is a bit of =
a
catch 22 for sure when starting, so you gotta trust your body and feed it
the good stuff.

I know that many are not having their hands in clay enough to make this
demand on their natural protective functions and I too have a problem when
my throwing is sporadic for what ever reason, but it is still a healthy way
to take care of our beautiful bodies that we live in. Oil up from with-in
and Adorn our house!!!
