Claire Reishman on fri 21 jan 11

As I look at the snow and think about how long I've been on Clayart and the
difficulty of grinding kiln shelves, I also envision June at Shakerag
Workshops - which is much more fun. This June we have 4 clay offerings: i=
n
our first session (June 12-18), both Randy Johnston and Jan
McKeachie-Johnston will be with us, with Randy teaching a primarily
handbuilding class ("Adjusting Volume: Insights into Handbuilding") and Jan
teaching a primarily wheel-throwing class ("Thoughtful Considerations in th=
e
Making of Handmade Pots"). The classes will interact and see some
demonstrations and slides together, as well as working separately. In our
second session (June 19-25) Linda Christianson will teach "Pottery: Ideas
and Making," and Mark Pharis will teach a handbuilding class ("From Flat to
Fat: Function, Context, and Process"). More information about the classes
and the Shakerag program is available on the Shakerag website:
www.shakerag.org. Consider joining us in Sewanee in June: you can eat
delicious food, swim in our stream-fed lake, take yoga classes, and work in
clay through the day and night with like-minded companions. Feel free to
contact me with any questions you might have. Claire Reishman, Sewanee TN
