I use bamboo BBQ sticks instead of needle tools for the younger kids. They =
are pointy enough to cut clay and they can write and draw with them (on cla=
y) too.
I cut them to half size so they are easier to handle. Cheap too-about $2/10=
0. The bigger kids use them for their armatures.
