Every year as the year ends I do
a studio cleaning ritual so I can
start the new year with purpose
and good energy. My ceramic=3D20
artist friend, Bea Wax introduced=3D20
me to this American Indian tradition=3D20
called Smudging by giving me a=3D20
sage smudge stick.
You clean your studio and then=3D20
light the smudge stick till it smokes=3D20
and walk around the perimeter of=3D20
your studio, giving special attention=3D20
to the corners and places behind=3D20
doors. Have ready a fireproof=3D20
receptacle such as a shell, glass=3D20
or ceramic dish to put the smudge=3D20
stick in when you're finished and=3D20
make sure your smudge stick is out=3D20
before leaving the studio.
On New Year's day I go to the studio=3D20
and make at least one new piece of=3D20
work to start the new year with=3D20
purpose and good energy.
On another note I got an email=3D20
from Studio Potter about their=3D20
next issue on Solstice Substance. =3D20
It mentioned that the Winter Solstice=3D20
was Dec 21 at 6:38 pm ET in northern hemisphere (3:38 pm in Calif).
The full moon is also that day and=3D20
to round out the energy, a total=3D20
lunar eclipse will take place early=3D20
in the morning, mid-eclipse at=3D20
3:17am ET. It should be an=3D20
interesting day.
