Hello,=3D20
I am working on getting a very specific kiln design down so I can put in a =
=3D
brick order. After a lot of consideration I thought I would stick pretty cl=
=3D
ose to the kiln designed by Peg Udall in Jack Troy's Woodfired Stoneware an=
=3D
d Porcelain book. I have the book, but unfortunately it is in Ohio and I am=
=3D
in Asia.=3D20
=3DA0
Does anyone have the plans, or very similar catenary arch kiln plans, avail=
=3D
able on line or have links to them online?=3D20
=3DA0
The plans in that book were so helpful because of the lists they came with.=
=3D
This will be my first kiln and I imagine they will be a great help.=3D20
=3DA0
If anyone could lend me a hand I would really appreciate it. It would take =
=3D
atleast 6 weeks tohave the book shipped here.=3D20
=3DA0
Thanks!!

Sam,

I did a google search for you:

Plans scanned here (not the list):

Steve Mills has an elegant new design for a small kiln:

The MiIls kiln is cute. I think the CAD drawing, by its short comings, is =
=3D
a
good demonstration of how hand made drawings can tell you more.

Actually it's not CAD, it's MS Paint, :-)

Purdey good drawing for Paint! ;^) I pretty much see everything I need t=
=3D
o
know. Elegantly simple design. Craig liked it when he saw it. If you
have ever experimented with small kilns, looking at this, it has
more usable stacking space than most. If you look at the photos before an=
=3D
d
after the plan, you can see the nice flashing the pots get out of this kiln=
=3D
.

Steve, are the grates placed just above the top of the flues to the
ware chamber?

Lee,
I like the simplicity of Paint. Most graphic programs have way too many
bells and whistles for me. I like that I can draw components and assemble
the whole when they're ready.

The Grates/Hobs were originally much higher than that (too high!), but I'm
lowering them to just below the halfway mark, and having just 3 bars instea=
=3D
d
of 5.
It's currently a bit too cold to work on it, so I'm waiting for the spring
to warm things up, then I'll do a bit more tinkering/fine-tuning/fiddling
with it before the next firing.
