Interesting to note in that article the only person that is saying that he
is under house arrest is the artist himself. That isn't very good journalism=
.
Will they next run a story in which I am visited by the President, the Dali
Llama and the re-animated corpse of Calvin Coolidge? Because they all came
over last night and drank all of my beer.

Think about this the next time you go shopping. Your $$$ spent on
Chinese goods supports this kind of repression.

Words like "alleged" and "he claims" appear frequently in articles
about Mr. Ai, of which I have seen many lately. One and one's work
must be important if the government is trying to silence you, no?
ArtInfo describes him thus in an August, 2009 article:

TOKYO=3D97 Who is Ai Weiwei? According to Chinese authorities, he is a
dissident to be watched, one whose inflammatory blog needed to be
silenced. But to others, the Chinese conceptual artist, architect,
photographer, and curator =3D97 loathed and loved for his human rights
activism =3D97 is the courageous voice needed in today=3D92s repressive Chi=

According to some, though, his temper can incinerate the best of

Oh, by the way, it was the Dali Lama who drank most of your beer. I
was talking to Zombie Coolidge for most of the evening, and can assure
you that he only drank one. The other guy wasn't even there; he was
off playing golf.

Hi James, all...

Does anyone have any idea what is being regarded as 'Human Rights Activism'
which have been attributed to Mr. Weiwei?

I'd be curious also to hear what he has to say about that 'Vase' ( which wa=
s
just auctioned off, even though of course it has nothing to do with him, or=
,
then again, maybe it does, in it's way... ).

Any respectable news junkie will remember the parents reaction to
their childrens' deaths in those schools, and how the PRC govt
reacted. Good to see artists taking sides and doing their job -
