letting freshly mixed glazes steep

This has its humorous side. Serious books and serious teachers tell =3D
students to let glazes steep at least 24 hours in plenty of water. =3D
Tillie Goofball at Twinkie Wreck Center does not.

I always urge students to mix new glazes before they close shop for the =3D
weekend. Weigh out the glazes, ease the materials into a bucket full of =
=3D
water, and let them be. Clean up the glaze area. Over the weekend any =3D
dust will have settled, clean up surfaces again. Now you can =3D
sieve/screen your glazes.

1. Clays and the like will have absorbed water and suspended well in =3D
the water. =3D20
2. Any clumps and lumps of whatever will have softened, and you won't =3D
have those annoying "explosions" of lumps sending dust up.
3. For reasons I do not know a well-soaked, steeped glaze sieves much =3D
more easily.

Also well soaked glazes apply better.
