i have a small educational set of pix on my website.

this is a very easy, quick and accurate system for throwing sets.
(who knows who first invented this...probably someone in england, 1735.)
it is a knock off of the old BLeach system.

it will explain itself.

I use a bamboo ruler carpenter's ruler (you can do the same with a
wooden hardware ruler), that has a shrink ruler Sharpied on the back.
I also use an adjustable dragonfly gauge made of shishkabob skewers.
Two horizontal skewers and held on an upright skewer with bread ties.
You can slide them in an out to what diameter you want and slide the
horizontal up and down, for the depth of the inside of the plate. I
use the bamboo ruler to measure the size.

Plates are almost 2D. But, you can give them a nice curve
with a good rib and then be careful about where you place the foot.
