I have been using Pete=3DB9s Forgiving White Slip without and with 10% zir=

and still, with one coat, with Zirc it is too translucent so difficult to
get a feel for the color. In some cases I like the striated effect of the
terracotta underneath but right now I=3DB9m wanting to see the color more a=

have lighter transparent color over the slip. Sooo, my latest test tiles
have been fired with the one coat of slip. I=3DB9d like to take Pete=3DB9s =
recipe
and adjust it for 1)putting on bisque and 2)use for sliptrailing, again on
leatherhard or bisque. I=3DB9m wondering what I should add to his recipe. I=

wonder if I put slip on at the bisque stage and the glaze over it and fire,
won=3DB9t it make the glaze murky, less transparent?

Adjust it with water. With 10% zircopax, maybe the slip is too thin.

Hey Centa,
=3D20
Have you ever used Amaco underglazes? They are amazingly forgiving. Very=3D
=3D20
opaque. (with two coats)
=3D20
In my early years I was a wheel thrower/handbuilder and decorated my work=
=3D
=3D20
with slip in the leatherhard phase. I've been a slip caster for many years=
=3D
=3D20
now and decorate my work in the greenware phase instead.=3D20
(A leatherhard slip cast pot is way too fragile to decorate.)
=3D20
The potters I know who want very vivid colors, and apply slip on bisque,=
=3D
=3D20
tell me they have to fire between coats. I'm not in that market range so=
=3D
I=3D20
find it best to apply color on greenware and then leave the bisque phase=
=3D
for=3D20
glazes/glazing.
=3D20
good luck
