pottery and carbon emissions

Yes, I'm using up gas when I fire. But....... how long does a well
made pot last? 50 years? 100 years? Will a plastic pot last that long?

Everything we make cost in terms of a carbon footprint. But if what we
make is well made and is used for 50 years, then the footprint is very
small.

Use and toss stuff may require a small footprint to make, but we make
the use and toss stuff again and again and again. How big is that
footprint over a span of 50 years?

Moral of the story: Make really well crafted, beautifully glazed pieces.
