If you've been wanting to learn glaze calculation to improve your
glaze knowledge, now is your chance to get into a small class where
you will get lots of teacher support and attention. We need one more
participant to make this small class happen at the Mendocino Art Center.

"Design Your Own Glazes" using glaze calculation software as a tool
with Chic Lotz
Mendocino Art Center June 21-25 http://www.mendocinoartcenter.org

This 5-dayworkshop is for students who mix glazes and want to learn
how to create new ones with the characteristics they desire. Learn
about each glaze ingredient, its function in the glaze, which
ingredients can be substituted for others, how to alter recipes and
how to bring ^10 glazes down to ^6. You will perform hands-on mixing
and firing of line blends. Create stable glazes for dinnerware as well
as textural and matte glazes for sculpture. Plus learn to use computer
calculation software to design your own glaze with the characteristics
and color you desire, then mix and test fire it. This information
works for any firing temperature, but we will be test-firing at ^6 for
the workshop.

Wish I could be there Chic,

Glaze calculation is a very important tool for working with glazes.
Not only can you design your own glazes, you can also sub in different
materials easily and correct glaze fit problems before they even happen.

I even use it to design and adjust clay bodies.

Do you want some stable liner glazes - calculation is the fastest way
to get there.

If you are taking a glaze course ask if this important tool is part of
the presentation.

I encourage all potters to learn as much as they can about calculation
and Chic has demonstrated her dedication and expertize in this area.

If anyone has any specific questions let me know.
